Bear Creek Assisted Living, West Windsor
Bear Creek Assisted Living was the ninth location where I played. Once again, I was also late to this event, but this time I had to entertain the crowd while my dad parked and brought the rest of my equipment in. The audience was getting impatient and I knew they couldn't wait any longer. I couldn't stall the whole time, deciding to play Ode to Joy, one of my memorized songs to please the audience. Fortunately, my dad came and we started to set up the equipment after an awkward start.
I proceeded to play, but during my performance, I noticed that I was making several mistakes. While I'm writing this, I don't know what happened, but I wasn't that focused during my performance. However, I managed to pick up on my mistakes and improvise certain beats into them. When I concluded with my usual speech about the Om Foundation, I was unsure about asking them for funds because they didn't seem like they had much. However, it made me realize that the true reward is not the funds I raise, rather it is the spreading of a message and the satisfaction I give to my audience that matters.
